Greek Catholic Church of Archangel Michael in Łodyna.

General

Egységtípus:

The currently existing Church in Łodyna was built in 1862 or, more likely, it was rebuilt at that time. In 1911 the Church was again rebuilt and next to it there was the brick bell Tower built.

The Church was a filial Church of Brzegi Dolne parish, belonging to the zatwarnicki deanery; after the World War I it was belonging to lutowiski deanery. In the Castle Museum in Łańcut there is the sixteenth-century icon of St. Nicholas originating from the Church in Łodyna. After the expulsion of the Ukrainian Orthodox population the Church remained abandoned. Since the year 1970 it operated as a Roman Catholic Church.

The Church is oriented, timbered, with the carcass constriction, divided in three parts, with a single dome and the sanctuary enclosed with the straight wall and presbytery to the north. From the west there is a tower build, with a composite construction and two floors. The framework walls of the sanctuary, the naves and the women's gallery was of the same height. By the western wall of the women's gallery there is a place for choir singers and the arcade passing from the nave to the sanctuary by the iconostas wall.
