The Bernardines were brought to Kalisz about 1465. A brick late Renaissance church was erected between 1594-1607, whereas the monastery construction was completed in 1622.
Our Lady`s Visitation Church was erected for Bernardine Monks in 1594-1607. Archbishop Stanisław Karnkowski was the founder. It is an aisles building, with a cradle vault, with props from the outside, kept in late-Renaissance style. The walls and the vault are decorated with illusory polychromy from 1764-1765, designed by Bernardine priest Walenty Żebrowski. The interior of the church dates back to the middle of the 18th c. Among many epitaphs one can find a plaque dedicated to Maria Konopnicka`s mother – Scholastyka Wasiłowska nee Turska (1820-1854). Three are monasterial buildings from the turn of the 16th c. and 17th c. near the church. The baroque monastery was build according to a plan of an irregular quadrilateral.
