The only Karaim cemetery in Poland was established in 1890 and is still functioning.
The Karaim is an ethnic and religious group, living mainly in Israel, professing a faith different from Judaism. Currently, in Poland there are between a few dozen and few hundred members of this community. The cemetery was established in 1890 and is still functioning. It is located in the Wola district near the Orthodox Cemetery, and covers an area of 1 hectare with around 40 graves with inscriptions in the Karaim language. The oldest grave is the one of Saduk Osipowicz Kefel from Kaffa, who died in 1895. Other notable figures buried there are University of Warsaw Professor Ananiasz Zajączkowski (1903-1970) and the last Polish hazzan (the spiritual leader of the Karaim community) Rafał Abkowicz (1896-1992).
