Rzeszów's Old Town, the oldest part of the city-embracing the Market Square , the City Hall , a historic well and adjacent streets-was constructed in the period of the city's foundation. It is the place where fairs and markets were held, and was the centre of business and social life. Around the Square and City Hall, hauses, inns and road houseswere built, and beneath them dungeons and cellars were dug for household and defence purposes. In 2001, the 213-metre Underground Tourist Route was made available, including 34 cellars located at different levels (the deepest cellar is 9.58 metres in depth).
