The sanctuary is an exact copy of the Vilnius counterpart. The painting of Our Lady was made by Izabela Borowska from Vilnius, and was founded by bishop Materski.
In the 1980s, Poles, for whom it was difficult to remain in contact with Vilnius, and who for historical reasons have left their beloved land, approached bishop Edward Materski with a request to allow the prayer before Our Lady of Ostra Brama, whose Vilnius image they remembered from childhood years. As at that time there were plans to construct a new Church in Skarżysko-Kamienna, the Ordinary of the Diocese of Radom fulfilled the request of the Poles yearning for the Mother of Mercy and decided to create the Sanctuary in this place.
