The Sanctuary is dedicated to the martyrs of the Podlasie - 13 Uniate who died on 24 January 1874 from the hands of imperial soldiers in defense of their beliefs.
Martyrs were buried in the cemetery near the village, later the ashes were transferred to the temple. In 1996, Pope John Paul II beatified the Uniates from Pratulin who died for their faith. Near the place where the Uniates were murdered the Pope’s altar is located. The altar was moved from Siedlce, where the Pope John Paul II celebrated the Mass during his pilgrimage to Poland.
