The building was built by the Prussians in 1906. It was constructed by Berlin architect Julius Habicht as the Reich's Bank.
Special arrangements and solutions were applied to fulfil bank functions. From the time of founding building paid bank function untill 2003. After the Second World War it was a seat of Polish State Bank. Nowadays it is a seat of Nicolaus Copernicus University' Collegium Maximum. There is a 2,9 m high monument of Germanika - Fortune on the top of the building.
