The museum is housed in a historic building built in 1780-1790, which belongs to the tiler Michał Grabiec vel Grabczyński. During World War II house was partially devastated, it was restored after the war by the city and PTTK fonds.

The collections in the PTTK Regional Museum in Gorlice has 7431 exhibits of archeology, ethnography, history, numismatics and painting. They come mostly from donations of activists and PTTK supporters, partly from shopping. From the old pre-war collections preserved, unfortunately, not much.

The museum has nine rooms available with a total area of approximately 250 m2.
Permanent expositions consists of five divisions:
-oil industry
-ethnographic
-artistic
-historical
-natural
-archeology.

In this museum worth attention are first of all exhibits related to the history of the development of the oil industry in the region of Gorlice, where about 1800 was first in the world crude production, the so-called diggings, and original equipment and tools of Ignacy Lukasiewicz.

In the artistic and historical section very interesting are monuments related to the period of World War I, including mainly the Battle of Gorlice fought in 1915 by the combined forces of the Austro-Hungarian and German with Russian troops.

Museum organizes temporary exhibitions presenting the work of local artists, amateurs, interesting collections and exhibits of other museums in the country.
