The Dutch settlement – wooden rural settlement

In the area of Nowy Tomyśl there are many wooden buildings from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century being the remains of the Dutch settlement.

On a large area among fields, meadows and forests there are located large farms connected with each other with roads and paths. Travelling around the neighbourhood one could imagine they are in an area not limited by any administrative borders. Forests, trees in the middle of fields, hop and wicker growing, as well as ponds and canals crisscrossing the area add to the beauty of the landscape. On single dispersed farms one can find old huts, barns and farm buildings. The wooden settlement stands out for precise logs’ connections, originally made barn gates, traditional doors and window shutters, decorative boards and rafters. This is a perfect place for bicycle trips.
