A tourist trail, along which lie the most valuable monuments of former village architecture and folk art.

The trail of wooden architecture is the largest such initiative in Europe. This project is a way of rescuing from oblivion architectural structures from former villages. Some of them have already been entered on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The total length of the trail which runs through three provinces (Lesser Poland, Subcarpathia and Silesia) is more than 3000km long and divided into three regional areas, and these in turn are subdivided into shorter sections. In total about 450 points of interest can be found here. In Lesser Poland Province the Wooden Architecture Trail is about 1500km long and divided into nine sections which include nearly 250 of the most precious historical structures such as churches, Orthodox churches, chapels, manor houses, wooden villas and open-air museums. The Subcarpathian part of the trail is 1202km in length and also divided into nine sections with 130 sites. The Silesian trail is 1060km long and has 93 structures of wooden architecture including open-air museums, churches and farm buildings. The wooden architecture trails are becoming more popular with tourists who delight in the beauty of wooden buildings from the past. www.drewnianamalopolska.pl  www.podkarpackie.pl  www.slaskie.pl
